FOR USE AS AN INTAKE FILTER

These self-supportive panels are made from the SAR-1 media. A wire support is sealed between the SAR-1 media layer and a 1/2” polyester prefilter layer.

The filter media is made from a blend of polyester fibers coated with an ecologically sound tackifier and a scrim layer on the downstream side for added strength and rigidity. The polyester fibers are fused together through a special low-melt production line. SAR-1 is made without the use of PVC or other unfavorable chemicals. In a heated environment, it’s these chemicals and/or the tackifier and scrim which can cause fiber discharge and heavy discoloration through the media (the “browning effect.”) In addi- tion, the SAR-1 scrim layer resists discoloration in a normal environment when compared to competitive brands.

The scrim layer also helps reduce any fibers from breaking off of the media during handling and instal- lation. The scrim increases the strength of the media and eliminates any sagging when loaded with contaminants.

The wire support is made from a 9 gauge galvanized wire with one to two cross pieces per frame. The two media layers are dielectrically welded together which seals the wire support inside the media layers. The panels are available in single panels using one single wire frame up to 2-” x 50” or in link panels using two or more wire frames and one continuous piece of media for easy installation. Special sizes are available upon request.

One important feature of a panel is the quality of the seal. If the media layers are not properly bonded together, the filter can break apart during use and cause mechanical problems in the booth. To prevent this possiblity, the SAR-1 uses a full 1/4” sealing sur- face for the is filter. Competitive products traditional- ly use a 1/8” seal.
