Quick Start Guide

Owner’s Reference A-100 Power Amplifier

Power down first

Connect the inputs

Balanced inputs

Once you have decided on the location and chosen the appropriate power cables, you are ready to install the A-100 Power Amplifi er.

We would recommend that you power the entire system down before attempting to insert the A-100 Power Amplifi er.

Insert the A-100 Power Amplifi er into the system. Make sure the rear mounted power switch is in the off position.

Connect the inputs of the A-100 Power Amplifi er to the output of your preamplifi er, surround processor or preamp outputs of a receiver or integrated amplifi er. There are two choices of inputs: balanced or single ended. Once chosen, you must switch to the appropriate input via the rear mounted input selection switch on the A-100 Power Amplifi er.

Balanced inputs require a preamp or source that has a balanced output. These

outputs are the preferred method of connection as a balanced XLR type of output allows the lowest noise connection between preamp and power amp, and allow owners to take advantage of the high common mode rejection characteristics of the A-100 Power Amplifi er. Be sure to use a high quality well shielded and well regarded interconnect for this critical link. PS Audio makes an entire line of excellent choices for interconnects, perfectly matched to your equipment’s needs. Input impedance is 100K.

RCA inputs

RCA or single ended inputs will be the typical inputs as many preamplifi ers, surround processors, receivers and integrated amplifi ers have only this standard type of input. Be sure to use a high quality well shielded and well regarded interconnect for this critical link. PS Audio makes an entire line of excellent choices for interconnects, perfectly matched to your equipment’s needs. Input impedance is 50K

Rear switch

Make sure the rear mounted input selection switch is placed in the appropriate position, either XLR or RCA (balanced or single ended). The switch must match the input you are using. Only one input on the A-100 Power Amplifi er can be used at a time, either XLR or RCA.

Bi-amp

To bi-amp, you can choose to place a single input and it will feed both channels. This will allow you to use one channel of the A-100 for the tweeter of your speaker and the other channel for the woofer and midrange. This will only work if your loudspeakers have two sets of input binding posts, one for the tweeter and the other for the woofer midrange. The switch for this is located on the rear of the A-100, between the inputs and outputs. You must use the left input, XLR or RCA for this mono operation.
