49-1011
Thank you for purchasing the RadioShack Personal Safety Alarm with Flashlight. It combines an alarm and a flashlight into one convenient device that helps ensure your personal safety. Its siren is designed to startle and deter would-be attackers, and its compact design is perfect for discreet carrying. The supplied neck strap lets you wear your personal safety alarm anywhere.
Removing the Insulation
To prevent battery drain during shipping, your Personal Safety Alarm with Flashlight is shipped with an insulation strip inside the battery compartment that must be removed before use. To remove the insulation, remove the battery cover with a flat-head screwdriver and pull off the insulation strip. Replace the battery cover when finished.
Using the Alarm
1.To activate the alarm, pull the strap until the alarm sounds.
2.To stop the alarm, push back the security pin.
Cautions:
• The siren is very loud. Prolonged exposure may cause permanent hearing impairment or loss.
•Your flashlight may not work properly in temperatures below 32°F (0°C).
•Keep your alarm away from children.
Replacing the Batteries
Your Personal Safety Alarm comes with three 357A batteries for power. When the flashlight dims or the alarm weakens, replace the batteries.
1. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the slot on the battery compartment cover to lift off the cover.
2.Insert the batteries into the compartment, matching the polarity (+) and (-) symbols marked on each side.
3. Insert the two locking tabs on the cover into the locking slots
on the battery compartment and snap it down into place.
Battery Cautions:
•Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type.
•If you do not plan to use the Personal Safety Alarm for a month or more, remove the batteries. Batteries may leak chemicals that can destroy electronic parts.
•Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury them.
•Keep button-cell batteries away from children. Swallowing a button-cell battery can be fatal.
Using the Flashlight
To turn on the flashlight, press and hold down LIGHT on the front of the alarm. Release LIGHT to turn the flashlight off.
Care
Keep the alarm dry; if it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Use and store the alarm only in room temperature environments. Handle the alarm carefully; do not drop it. Keep the alarm away from dust and dirt, and wipe it with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.
