MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
BLADE CLEANING/
LUBRICATION
BLADE NICKS
If you accidentally nick the blade, do not re-
move the nick as long as it does not interfere
with blade movement.
If a nick adversely effects the blade oscilla-
tion, use only an oilstone to remove it. Filing
or grinding the blade may weaken the blade
steel properties.
DROPPING THE TOOL
If the tool is dropped or banged, immediately
inspect it for damage. If the blade is bent or
damaged, the housing is cracked, or if there are
any other observations which may adversely
affect safe and proper operation, DO NOT
use the tool. If there are any questions or
concerns, contact DESA Technical Services at
1-800-626-2237.
After tool use, debris may have accumulated on
the blade. Remove any debris and wipe blade
with damp cloth. After the blade has dried, use
a rag to apply a thin fi lm of engine oil across
the blade surface. The tool does not require
any other lubrication.
When not in use, the unit should be stored
indoors in a dry location and out of reach of
children and persons not familiar with instruc-
tions and warnings stated in this manual. Tools
such as these are dangerous in the hands of
individuals unfamiliar with operating instruc-
tions and warnings.
CLEANING PLASTIC

STORAGE
PREVENTING CORROSION
Fertilizers and other garden chemicals contain

of metals. Do not store the unit on or adjacent
to fertilizers or chemicals.
NOTE: water or liquid inside the tool can cause seri-
ous damage to the unit.
NOTE: Use of any substance other than water and
mild soap may damage the plastic housing. Never
use substances such as thinners, gasoline or similar
fl uids.

RECYCLING
