Charging the battery
Before you use the controller for the first time, or after you have not used it for a long time, you must charge the battery. (If the controller will not be used for long periods of time, the battery should be recharged at least once every six months.) It takes approximately 3.5 hours to fully charge the battery.
To charge the battery

Pairing your controller
Before you use your controller, you need to pair it with your PS3 console.
1Connect the USB cable between your controller and PS3 console.
2Turn on the controller, then press its PS button. When the PS3 recognizes your controller, all the port indicators flash slowly.

When your controller has been assigned to a port, the indicator number for the port turns solid red.

3Press the PS button again to assign a port number.
Notes:
• | Pairing and assigning controller numbers can only be done when the |
| system is turned on. |
• | When a paired controller is used with another PS3 system, the pairing |
| with the original system is cleared. Pair the controller with the system |
