Focus lock Flash ( )/ Left button

ƈTo focus on a subject positioned outside of the centre of the viewfinder, use the
focus lock function.
ƃUsing the Focus Lock
1. Frame the subject in the centre of the auto-focus frame.
2. Press the SHUTTER button halfway. When the green auto focus frame lights
up, it means the camera is focused on the subject. Be careful not to press the
SHUTTER button all the way down to avoid taking an unwanted picture.
3. With the SHUTTER button still pressed down only halfway, move the camera
to recompose your picture as desired, and then press the SHUTTER button
completely to take the picture. If you release your finger from the SHUTTER
button, the focus lock function will be cancelled.

ƃWhen the flash is charging, a flash mode icon (red colour) will blink on the
LCD monitor.
ƃUsing the flash frequently will reduce the life of the battery.
ƃUnder normal operating conditions the flash will re-charge in about 4
seconds. If the battery is weak, charging time will be longer.
ƃ
During the continuous shot and movie clip mode, the flash function will not operate.
ƃTake photographs within the flash range.
ƃThe image quality is not guaranteed if the subject is too close or highly reflective.
ƃIf the subject is the Oriental people, it may be hard to reduce the Red-eye effect.
ƃWhen taking an image in a poorly lit condtion with the flash, there may be a
white speck in the captured image. The speck is caused by the reflecting of
the flash light from the floating matters. It is not camera malfuction.

ƈWhen the menu is displayed on the LCD monitor,
pressing the LEFT button makes the cursor shift to the
left tab.
ƈWhen the menu is not displayed on the LCD monitor,
the LEFT button operates as the FLASH button.
ƃSelecting the flash mode
1. Press the Flash button until the desired flash mode
indicator displays on the LCD monitor.
2. A flash mode indicator will be displayed on the LCD monitor.
Use the correct flash to suit the environment.
