Kui võrk nõuab dünaamilist IP-aadressi, peaksite kasutama ADSL-modemit või ruuterit, mis toetab DHCP- protokolli (dünaamilise hostikonfiguratsiooni protokoll). DHCP-d toetavad modemid ja ruuterid pakuvad telerile automaatselt Internetiga ühendamiseks vajalikud IP-aadressi, alamvõrgumaski, lüüsi ja DNS-i väärtused, et neid ei peaks käsitsi sisestama.
