2.12Reliability
2.12.1Annualized Failure Rate (AFR) and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
The product shall achieve an Annualized Failure Rate (AFR) of 0.80% (MTBF of 1+ million hours) when oper- ated in an environment of ambient air temperatures of 25°C, assuming delta between ambient air temperature and HDD case temperature is less than 15°C. Operation at temperatures outside the specifications in Section
2.9may increase the product AFR (decrease MTBF). AFR and MTBF are population statistics that are not rel- evant to individual units.
AFR and MTBF specifications are based on the following assumptions for Digital Video Surveillance computer environments:
•8760
•10,000 average motor start/stop cycles per year.
•Operations at nominal voltages.
•Temperatures outside the specifications in Section 2.9 may reduce the product reliability.
•Normal I/O duty cycle for desktop personal computers. Operation at excessive I/O duty cycle may degrade product reliability.

2.13.2Electromagnetic compatibility
Hard drives that display the CE mark comply with the European Union (EU) requirements specified in the Elec- tromagnetic Compatibility Directive (2004/108/EC) as put into place 20 July 2007. Testing is performed to the levels specified by the product standards for Information Technology Equipment (ITE). Emission levels are defined by EN 55022, Class B and the immunity levels are defined by EN 55024.
