MD 416
Introduction:
The MD 416 is an ideal microphone lar soloists because 01its good properties, the effective suppression 01pop noises, the isolation against handling noise and the solid
The smooth Irequency response at elose talking distance gives a weil balanced and natural sound sensation. The directional characteristic
makes the microphone suitable lor sound reinlorcement installations where it is used near loudspeakers. Acoustical leedback effects will be avoided. The microphone has a
The capsule 01the microphone is spring mounted to the outer case. Th.e result is a high insensitivity to handling noise. T0 protect the inner shell against mechanical shocks or accidental dropping the gauze 01the SOUild inlet has been strengthened by an inner mechanical reinlarcement.
The MD 416 comes with the additional pop shield and a quick release clamp.
As optional accessory windshield MZW
Types:
There are two types 01 MD 416. Both microphones have a balanced low
impedance output. The difference between them is the type 01connector litted:
The MD 416 N is provided with a three pin plug according to DIN 41 524 and it is wired according to wiring diagram N.
The MD 416 U is litted with a three pin Cannon plug (XLR) and it is connected according to wiring diagram U.

threads. The thread adapter ean be serewed out 01the elamp by means 01 a eoin. II it is replaeed 1800 reversed, the elamp is prepared lor litting to tripods with '/2"threads. When the thread adapter is eompletely removed tripods with %" x 27 G threads can be used (Fig. 1).
The MD 416 is balaneed and has an eleetrieal impedanee 01 200 Q. It ean be eonneeted to both balaneed and unbalanced inputs as long as they have an impedance 01 at least 200 Q.
Directioi!1alproperties
The MD 416 has a eardioid directional charaeteristic. The direetional index at 1800and 1000 Hz is at least 17 dB. This means, that sound Irom the rear with a Ir'equency011000 Hz produees a 17 dB lower signal than sound 01 the sarne intensity reaching the microphone lrom the Iront. So the rnax',Tnuminsensitivity to unwanted sound sources lies by 180°. As ean be seen lrom the polar diagram the microphone should be spoken into Irom the Iront (Fig. 2)
