MOON W-8 Dual-Mono Power Amplifier

Bridged-Mono Operation

Figure 3: Bridged-Mono operation of the MOON W-8 Dual-Mono Amplifier

In the event that you wish to operate the MOON W-8Dual-Mono Power Amplifier as a monoblock amplifier, it can be converted to bridged mode without any complex modifications. Only a Simaudio XLR-BRIDGE Y-cable is required. This custom cable will allow one input signal to be sent to both channels of the amplifier’s inputs, as pictured above in Figure 3. One lead from the “Y” adapter must plug into right channel input and the other lead must plug into left channel input. As well, you must use the positive terminal of each output binding post (exactly as in figure 3) for the loudspeaker connection. If you are unsure about how to accomplish a bridged-mono mode of operation, don’t hesitate to contact your Simaudio MOON dealer.

The MOON W-8produces 1000 watts of output power at 8 ohms for a single channel when operating in bridged-mono mode.

As a part of Simaudio's Moon series, the W-8 is engineered to deliver power and precision, making it an ideal choice for serious music enthusiasts.

One of the hallmark features of the W-8 is its impressive power output. With an ability to deliver 250 watts per channel into an 8-ohm load, and 500 watts into 4 ohms, the W-8 provides ample headroom to drive even the most demanding speaker systems. This power is coupled with a very low distortion level, ensuring that the integrity of the audio signal is maintained regardless of volume levels.

The W-8 incorporates Simaudio’s proprietary technologies to enhance performance. One such technology is the use of fully balanced, differential circuitry, which significantly reduces noise and distortion, delivering a crystal-clear sound. Additionally, the W-8 employs a class A/AB amplification design that combines the efficiency of class AB operation with the finesse of class A. This hybrid approach allows for linear performance across the audio spectrum while preserving dynamic range.

Another notable characteristic of the Simaudio W-8 is its robust build quality. Housed in a sleek aluminum chassis, the amplifier features an elaborate thermal management system that ensures optimal performance during extended listening sessions. With a dual mono design and separate power supplies for each channel, the W-8 minimizes crosstalk and enhances stereo imaging.

In terms of connectivity, the amplifier provides extensive options, including XLR and RCA inputs, as well as speaker binding posts that accommodate a variety of cables. This versatility ensures that the W-8 can seamlessly integrate into various audio setups, allowing for greater flexibility and customization.

Moreover, Simaudio places a strong emphasis on user experience, which is evident in the W-8's intuitive layout and operational simplicity. Its understated aesthetic ensures it fits well into any audio system while also standing out as a statement piece.

In conclusion, the Simaudio W-8 is an amplifier that excels in performance, design, and technology.
