The new EZ Connect™ Wireless Cable Modem Gateway is a cable modem, 4-port router, and 2.4GHz 54Mbps 802.11g Wireless Access Point combined into one device to simplify cable connectivity for all types of users. The Gateway has a DOCSIS 1.1 certified cable modem to insure interoperability with existing cable systems, and is software upgradeable to future standards, such as DOCSIS 2.0 and CableHome 1.1 to future proof your investment and allow product to be easily updated as your Cable Operator's network grows.

The EZ Connect Wireless Cable Modem Gateway offers a full featured 802.11g wireless Access Point that supports data rates up to 54Mpbs. To secure this wireless connection, the Gateway supports MAC address filtering and 64-/128-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP).

The EZ Connect Wireless Cable Modem Gateway includes advanced firewall protection and dynamic, configurable parental controls to protect your home from unwanted intruders and to protect your children from inappropriate web sites. The SMC8013WG-G supports VPN pass-through

connections with PPTP, L2TP, and IPSec. For advanced net- work security the EZ Connect Gateway has full-featured Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) Firewall to provide a high level of security against hacker invasions, such as Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. The highly efficient SPI firewall analyzes individual data packets as they pass through the gateway, to ensure that only authorized packets are allowed access to your network. To control network access, parents or business owners can block certain web sites by entering either a URL address or just a keyword of the web site. In addition to these features, the Gateway provides hacker prevention and logging functionalities. For example, if a hacker attempts to access your network, the Gateway can alert you via email so you can take appropriate action.
