Precautions
Camcorder operation
•Operateyourcamcorderon7.2V(batterypack)or8.4V(ACpoweradaptor). •ForDCorACoperation,usetheaccessoriesrecommendedinthisoperating
instructions.
•Ifanysolidobjectorliquidgetinsidethecasing,unplugyourcamcorderandhaveit checkedbyaSonydealerbeforeoperatingitanyfurther.
•Avoidroughhandlingormechanicalshock.Beparticularlycarefulofthelens. •Keep the POWER switch set to OFF (CHARGE) when you are not using your
camcorder.
•Donotwrapyourcamcorderwithatowel,forexample,andoperateit.Doingso mightcauseheattobuildupinside.
•Keepyourcamcorderawayfromstrongmagneticfieldsormechanicalvibration.
On handling tapes
Donotinsertanythingintothesmallholesontherearofthecassette.Theseholesare usedtosensethetypeandthicknessofthetapeandiftherecordingtabisinorout.
Camcorder care
•Whenyourcamcorderisnottobeusedforalongtime,removethebattery. •Removethetape,andperiodicallyturnonthepower,operatetheCAMERAand
PLAYERsectionsandplaybackatapeforabout5minuteswhenyourcamcorderis nottobeusedforalongtime.
•Cleanthelenswithasoftbrushtoremovedust.Iftherearefingerprintsonthelens, removethemwithasoftcloth.
•Cleanthecamcorderbodywithadrysoftcloth,orasoftclothlightlymoistenedwith amilddetergentsolution.Donotuseanytypeofsolventwhichmaydamagethe finish.
•Donotletsandgetintoyourcamcorder.Whenyouuseyourcamcorderonasandy beachorinadustyplace,protectitfromthesandordust. Sandordustmaycause yourcamcordertomalfunction,andsometimesthismalfunctioncannotberepaired.
AC power adaptor
•Unplugtheunitfromawalloutletwhenyouarenotusingtheunitforalongtime.To disconnectthepowercord,pullitoutbytheplug.Neverpullthepowercorditself.
•Donotoperatetheunitwithadamagedcordoriftheunithasbeendroppedor damaged.
•Donotbendthepowercordforcibly,orplaceaheavyobjectonit.Thiswilldamage thecordandmaycausefireorelectricalshock.
•Preventmetallicobjectsfromcomingintocontactwiththemetalpartsofthe connectingsection.Ifthishappens,ashortmayoccurandtheunitmaybedamaged.
•Alwayskeepmetalcontactsclean. •Donotdisassembletheunit.
•Donotapplymechanicalshockordroptheunit.
•Whiletheunitisinuse,particularlyduringcharging,keepitawayfromAMreceivers andvideoequipment.AMreceiversandvideoequipmentdisturbAMreceptionand videooperation.
•Theunitbecomeswarmduringuse.Thisisnotamalfunction. •Donotplacetheunitinlocationsthatare:
