Troubleshooting

If you experience any of the following difficulties while using the sys tem, use this troubleshooting

guide to help remedy the problem before requesting repairs. Should an y problem persist, consult your

nearest Sony dealer.

Note that if service personnel changes some parts during repair, these parts may be retained.

General

Picture

Symptom Problems and solutions
The power is not turned on. •Check that the AC power cord (mains lead) is connected securely.
The remote does not function. •The distance betwee n the remote and the unit is too far.
•The batteries in the remote are weak.
The system does not work
normally.
•Disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead) from the wall outlet (mains), then
reconnect after several minutes.
•Perform the following proc edure (noting that the system parameters, such a s
preset stations, return to the default settings):
1Press "/1 to turn on the system.
2Press N, FUNCTION, and "/1 on the unit at the same time. “RESET”
appears in the front panel display.
Symptom Problems and solutions
There is no picture. •The video input on your TV is not set so that you can view pictu res from the
system.
•Check the output method o n your system.
There is no picture when you
make an HDMI cable
connection.
•The unit is connected to an input device that is not HDCP (High -bandwidth
Digital Content Protection) compliant.
•If the HDMI OUT jack is use d for video output, change the type of vid eo signal
output from the HDMI OUT jack (page50).
Connect your TV and the unit using a video jack other than HDMI OUT, and
switch your TV’s input to the connected video input so that you can see the on-
screen displays. Change the type of video signal output from the HDMI O UT
jack, and switch your TV’s input back to HDMI. If the picture s till does not
appear, repeat the Steps and try other options.
Picture noise appears. •If the signal from the EUR O AV T OUTPUT (TO TV) jack is distorted,
change the type of video signal output from the HDMI OUT jack by setting
[HDMI RESOLUTION] in [HDMI SETUP] to [720 × 480p]* (page50) .
* Depending on the area, [720 × 480/576p] may appear.
An image is not displayed on the
entire TV screen.
•Check the setting of [TV TYPE] in [VIDEO SETUP] (page 50).
•The aspect ratio on the disc is fixed.
Color irregularity occurs on the
TV screen.
The system’s speakers contain magnet parts, so magnetic distortion may occur.
When color irregularity occurs on the TV screen, check the following items:
•Install the speakers at least 0.3 meters f rom your TV set.
•If the color irregularit y persists, turn off your TV set once, then turn it on af ter
15 to 30 minutes.
•Make sure that no magnetic object (magneti c latch on a TV stand, health care
device, toy, etc.) is placed near the speakers.
•Reposition the speakers farther away from your TV set.
