To Set Up Your

Home Network

The HomePNA modem that is installed in your Sony VAIO® computer is designed to use the existing phone lines in your home to establish a closed home network. This section provides information on setting up a home network using your VAIO computer.

Evaluating your system requirements

Your VAIO computer is configured to serve as the gateway to the Internet using the installed V.90 modem or your own Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) or cable modem (optional). You can also gain access to the Internet using your Integrated Service Digital Network (ISDN) connection or regular analog voice telephone service.

If your home is equipped with two separate phone lines, such as separate business and personal phone service, you must create your home network on a single line. All linked computers on your home network must be plugged into telephone jacks that are extensions of one telephone service line. If you attempt to set up your home network using two separate phone lines, the computers cannot share data and peripheral equipment.

For the best results, Sony suggests using Microsoft® Windows® Millennium Edition (Windows Me™) operating system on all of your home network computers.

MPKTHE specifications

The Sony MPK-THE is an innovative housing solution designed specifically for Sony's line of digital cameras, particularly the Alpha series, that aims to enhance the shooting experience in underwater and harsh conditions. This underwater case is meticulously engineered to ensure that photographers and videographers can capture stunning images and high-definition videos while submerged.

One of the key features of the MPK-TH is its robust construction. Built from high-quality polycarbonate, the housing can withstand the rigors of underwater use, offering durability and resistance against saltwater and pressure. This makes it suitable for depths of up to 60 meters (approximately 197 feet), allowing divers and underwater enthusiasts to explore and capture their experiences without fear of damaging the camera.

The MPK-TH also boasts an array of intuitive controls that provide users with easy access to essential camera functions. The housing incorporates dedicated buttons for shutter release and function controls, allowing seamless operation without having to remove the camera from its protective casing. This is particularly important for those who need to react quickly to spontaneous photographic opportunities underwater.

Another notable characteristic of the Sony MPK-TH is its transparent front, which is designed for maximum optical clarity. This ensures that images captured beneath the surface maintain high levels of sharpness and color fidelity, reducing light refraction problems that are commonly faced in underwater photography. Furthermore, the housing features a built-in lens port that allows for the use of Sony's wide-angle converters, enhancing the versatility of the setup.

Sony has also integrated a variety of accessories and add-ons to complement the MPK-TH. For instance, external lighting options can be used to illuminate subject matter in dark underwater environments, improving image quality. Additionally, the housing is compatible with various mounts, enabling users to attach it to different devices like tripods and stabilizers for added flexibility during shooting.

In summary, the Sony MPK-THE is a feature-rich housing solution that provides superior protection, ease of use, and excellent image quality for underwater photographers. Whether for professional work or recreational use, the MPK-TH allows users to push the limits of their creativity and explore the breathtaking beauty of the underwater world.
