Note

Tapes recorded with the REC TIME/PLAY MODE switch in the DOUBLE position cannot be played properly on a tape recorder without the REC TIME/PLAY MODE switch function.

About this manual

There is no difference among TCM- 230DV, 220DV and 210DV except for the supplied accessories. TCM-230DV/220DV/210DV consists of TCM-200DV cassette recorder and the accessories.

BGetting Started
Preparing a Power Source
Choose one of the following power sources.Dry Batteries (see Fig. A-A)Make sure that nothing is connected to the DC IN 3V jack.1Open the battery compartment lid.

2Insert two R6 (size AA) batteries (supplied to TCM- 220DV only) with correct polarity and close the lid.

Notes

•Do not charge a dry battery.

•Do not use a new battery with an old one.

•Do not use different types of batteries.

•When you do not use the unit for a long time, remove the batteries to avoid any damage caused by battery leakage and subsequent corrosion.

•Dry batteries will not be drained when another power source is connected.

To take out the batteries (see Fig. A-B)

To attach the battery compartment lid if it is accidentally detached (see Fig. A-C)

When to replace the batteries (see Fig.A-D)Replace the batteries with new ones when the BATT lamp dims.

Notes

•After the batteries have been used for a while, the BATT lamp may flicker with the playback sound when you turn up the volume; however this does not mean that you need to replace the batteries.

•The unit will play back normally for a while, even after the BATT lamp dims. However, replace the batteries as soon as you can. If you do not, subsequent recording will not be done correctly.

Note

The battery life may be shorter depending on the operating condition, the surrounding temperature and battery type.

For maximum performance we recommend that you use alkaline batteries.House Current(see Fig. A-E)

Connect the AC power adaptor to DC IN 3V and to the mains. Use the AC-E30HG AC power adaptor (not supplied) or the supplied AC power adaptor (TCM-230DV/210DV only). Do not use any other AC power adaptor.

Polarity of the plug

Notes

•Specifications for AC-E30HG vary for each area. Check your local voltage and the shape of the plug before purchasing.

•Do not touch the AC power adaptor with wet hands.

•Connect the AC power adaptor to the easily accessible mains. Should you notice an abnormality in the AC power adaptor, disconnect it from the mains immediately.

Rechargeable batteries (supplied with TCM-230DV only)

Charge the supplied rechargeable batteries only with the supplied charge adaptor and the supplied AC power adaptor before using them.

Full charging takes about 12 hours. While charging, the CHARGE indicator lights up, and when charging is completed, it goes off. The unit can be used for recording for approximately 12 hours with the fully charged rechargeable batteries.

To charge (see Fig. A-F)Recharge the two rechargeable batteries together.

To take out the rechargeable batteries from the charge adaptor, push the # side of the battery first and then remove the 3 side. (see Fig. A-G)

Notes

•When using the supplied charge adaptor, charge the rechargeable batteries specified on the charge adaptor only. Do not charge any other batteries.

•When charging, use the supplied AC power adaptor only.

•If there is distortion of sound or excessive noise, or if the unit does not operate properly, turn off the unit and recharge the two rechargeable batteries together.

•The rechargeable batteries will discharge gradually even when not in use. Be sure to charge them before use.

•Charging and operation should be made in temperature ranges 5°C to 40°C (40°F to 104°F).

•The charge adaptor will become warm during charging but this is not a sign of problem.

•Do not use or leave the charge adaptor, AC power adaptor and rechargeable batteries in a location near heat sources or in a place subject to direct sunlight or excessive moisture.

•Unplug the AC power adaptor from the wall outlet when it is not to be used for long.

•Do not charge dry batteries.

BOperating the Unit
Recording
(see Fig. B-A,B)You can record right away with the built-in microphone.Make sure that nothing is connected to the MIC jack.

1 Insert a normal (TYPE I) tape with the side to be recorded facing the cassette holder.

2 Set REC TIME/PLAY MODE to the desired mode.NORMAL (4.8cm/s): for optimum sound. Recommended for normal recordings.

DOUBLE (2.4cm/s): for double recording time (for example, 120 minutes using both sides of a 60- minute cassette). Suitable for recording conferences, dictations, etc. Not recommended for recording music.

3 Set VOR to H or L to start and pause recording automatically depending on the recording condition.

H (high) to record at meetings or in a quiet and/ or spacious place.L (low) to record for dictation or in a noisy place.Set VOR to OFF to start and stop recording manually.

Note

When the sound to be recorded is not loud enough, set the VOR switch to OFF, or the unit may not start recording.

4 Press z REC.N PLAY is pressed simultaneously and recording starts.At the end of the tape, recording stops and the unit turns off automatically.

To monitor the soundConnect an earphone (not supplied) firmly to the EAR jack.

The sound level is fixed. You cannot adjust monitoring volume with VOL. The recording level is not affected.

Notes

•Do not use a High-position (TYPE II) or metal (TYPE IV) tape. If you do so, the sound may be distorted when you play back the tape, or the previous recording may not be erased completely.

•The SPEED CONTROL switch (see reverse side) works in the playback mode only. Recording will be made independent of this control.

No existen diferencias entre los modelos TCM-230DV, 220DV y 210DV a excepción de los accesorios suministrados.

BProcedimientos iniciales
Preparación de una fuente de alimentación
Seleccione una de las siguientes fuentes de alimentación.Pilas secas (consulte la figura A-A)Asegúrese de que no hay ningún dispositivo conectado a la toma DC IN 3V.1Abra la tapa del compartimiento de las pilas.

2Introduzca dos pilas R6 (tamaño AA) (suministradas con TCM-220DV solamente) con la polaridad correcta y cierre la tapa.

Notas

•No recargue las pilas secas.

•No emplee una pila nueva con otra usada.

•No utilice distintos tipos de pilas.

•Cuando no vaya a utilizar la unidad durante varios días, retire las pilas para evitar que se produzcan daños derivados de fugas y corrosión de las mismas.

•Las pilas secas no se consumirán cuando exista otra fuente de alimentación conectada.

Para extraer las pilas (consulte la figura A-B)

Para ajustar la tapa del compartimiento de las pilas si ésta se desprende accidentalmente (consulte la figura A-C)

Cuándo sustituir las pilas (consulte la figura A-D)

Reemplace las pilas por otras nuevas cuando la iluminación de la lámpara BATT se ilumine débilmente.

Notas

•Después de haber utilizado las pilas durante cierto tiempo, la lámpara BATT puede parpadear con el sonido de reproducción cuando aumente el volumen; sin embargo, esto no significa que tiene que reemplazar las pilas.

•La unidad reproducirá normalmente durante cierto tiempo aunque la lámpara BATT esté iluminada débilmente. Sin embargo, reemplace las pilas lo antes posible. Si no lo hiciese, la grabación siguiente no se realizaría correctamente.

Nota

Polaridad del enchufe

Notas

•Las especificaciones de la unidad AC-E30HG varían en función de la zona. Compruebe la tensión local y la forma del enchufe antes de la adquisición.

•No toque el adaptador de alimentación de ca con las manos mojadas.

•Conecte el adaptador de alimentación de ca a una toma de corriente de ca de fácil acceso. Si detecta alguna anomalía en el adaptador de alimentación de ca, desconéctelo inmediatamente de la toma de corriente de ca.

Pilas recargables (sólo se suministran con el modelo TCM-230DV)

Cargue las pilas recargables suministradas solamente con el adaptador de carga y el adaptador de alimentación de ca suministrados.

Antes de utilizar las pilas recargables suministradas, cárguelas solamente con el adaptador de carga y el adaptador de alimentación de ca suministrados.

La carga completa tarda unas 12 horas. Durante la carga, se ilumina el indicador CHARGE y éste se apaga una vez finalizada la carga. La unidad puede utilizarse para grabar durante aproximadamente 12 horas con las pilas recargables completamente cargadas.

•Si utiliza el adaptador de carga suministrado, cargue únicamente las pilas recargables especificadas en el adaptador de carga. No cargue ningún otro tipo de pila.

•Al cargar, utilice únicamente el adaptador de alimentación de ca suministrado.

•Si se produce distorsión de sonido o ruido excesivo, o si la unidad no funciona correctamente, apague la unidad y recargue las dos pilas recargables juntas.

•Las pilas recargables se descargarán gradualmente aunque no se utilicen. Asegúrese de cargarlas antes de utilizarlas.

•La carga y el uso deberían realizarse en rangos de temperatura desde 5°C a 40°C.

•El adaptador de carga se calentará durante la carga, pero eso no indica un problema.

•No utilice ni deje el adaptador de carga, adaptador de alimentación de ca y pilas recargables en una ubicación cercana a fuentes de calor, ni en lugares expuestos a la luz solar directa o a un exceso de humedad.

•Desenchufe el adaptador de alimentación de ca de la toma de corriente de pared cuando no vaya a utilizarlo durante un tiempo.

•No cargar pilas secas.

BFuncionamiento de la unidad
Grabación (consulte la figura B-A,B)

Es posible grabar inmediatamente con el micrófono incorporado. Compruebe que no hay nada conectado a la toma MIC.

1 Inserte una cinta normal (TYPEI)con la cara en la que desee iniciar la grabación hacia el portacassettes.

2 Ajuste REC TIME/PLAY MODE en el modo que desee. NORMAL (4,8cm/s): para obtener un sonido óptimo. Recomendado para las grabaciones normales. DOUBLE (2,4cm/s): para duplicar el tiempo de grabación (por ejemplo, 120 minutos utilizando las dos caras de un cassette de 60 minutos). Adecuado para grabar conferencias, dictados, etc. No se recomienda para grabaciones de música.

3 Sitúe VOR en: H o L para iniciar y parar la grabación de manera automática, en función del estado de la grabación.

H (alto) para grabar en reuniones o en lugares silenciosos y/o amplios. L (bajo) para grabar dictados o en lugares ruidosos.

Ajuste VOR en OFF para iniciar y detener la grabación manualmente.

Nota

Si el sonido que va a grabarse no es lo suficientemente alto, ajuste el interruptor VOR en OFF, o es posible que la unidad no inicie la grabación.
