Using Your VAIO Computer

Using Special-function Buttons

Your computer is equipped with special buttons to help you use specific functions of the computer.

The AV MODE, Play/Pause, Stop, Previous track, and Next track buttons support Instant Mode*. To activate Instant Mode, the computer must be off or in Hibernate mode. See the printed Instant Mode booklet for more information on the Instant Mode.

*On models with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator only.

Special-function button

Functions

 

 

S button

By default, the S button launches Internet Explorer. You can change this button assignment on the window

for changing the S button assignment. To display this window, press and hold the button or launch and

 

navigate through VAIO Central.

 

 

AV MODE button

When the computer is off or in Hibernate mode:

Activates Instant Mode to enable you immediately to play music and view the image data stored on the hard

 

disk without launching Windows. See the printed Instant Mode booklet for more information.

 

When the computer is on or in Sleep mode:

 

Launches VAIO AV Mode Launcher. Select the desired software to launch.

 

You can change the software, displayed on your computer screen, in the setup window for VAIO AV Mode

 

Launcher. To display this window, press and hold the AV MODE button.

 

 

Stop button

Stops CD, DVD, or Blu-ray Disc* playback or music file playback on the hard disk.

 

 

 

Play/Pause button u

Starts or pauses CD, DVD, Blu-ray Disc* playback or music file playback on the hard disk.

Previous track button .

Plays the previous chapter/movie in the DVD or Blu-ray Disc* during video playback or the previous song in

 

the CD or previous music file on the hard disk during playback.

 

 

Next track button >

Plays the next chapter/movie in the DVD or Blu-ray Disc* during video playback or the next song in the CD or

 

next music file on the hard disk during playback.
