Using the Wireless LAN

To communicate without an access point (ad-hoc)

The IEEE 802.11a standard, using the 5 GHz band, and the IEEE 802.11n dra ft standard, using the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band, are not available on ad-hoc

networks.

1Click the VAIO Smart Network icon on the taskbar.

2Click the switch next to your desired wireless option(s) to toggle it to On in the VAIO Smart Network window.

Make sure the WIRELESS indicator light turns on.

3Click Start and Control Panel.

4Click View network status and tasks under Network and Internet.

5Click Set up a new connection or network.

6Select an option to specify the ad-hoc network settings and click Next.

7Follow the on-screen instructions.
