”Getting Started

Inserting Batteries

(see Fig. A-a)

Open the cassette holder and open the battery compartment lid, and insert two R6 (size AA) dry batteries with correct polarity.

Be sure to insert each battery from the }side as illustrated.

Note

•For maximum performance we recommend that you use Sony alkaline batteries.

When to replace the batteries

Replace the batteries when the BATT lamp dims (see Fig. A-b).

1 Connect the headphones/ earphones to 2.

2 Wear the “L” marked side to the left ear and the “R” marked side to the right ear.

1 Set FUNCTION to TAPE.

2 Set TAPE to match the tape type.

3 Insert a cassette tape and press (. Then adjust the volume with VOL.

•If you leave the unit after the tape has been wound or rewound, the batteries will be consumed rapidly. Be sure to press p.

•Do not open the cassette holder while the tape is running.

Listening to the Radio (see Fig. D-a)

1 Set FUNCTION to FM or AM.

2 Turn TUNING to tune in to the desired station.

To turn off the radio

Set FUNCTION to TAPE (RADIO OFF).

To improve the broadcast reception (see Fig. D-b)

For FM, extend the headphones/ earphones cord, or adjust FM SENS or FM MODE.

For AM, reorient the unit itself.

Note

•If the broadcast becomes noisy when a cassette with a metallic shell or label is inserted, remove the cassette.

Using Other Functions (see Fig. E)To limit the maximum volume automatically

Set AVLS (Automatic Volume Limiter System) to LIMIT. The maximum volume is kept down to protect your ears, even if you turn the volume up. To cancel the AVLS function, set AVLS to NORM.

To emphasize sound

Set the MEGA BASS switch to ON to produce deep and powerful sound.

Note

•When you set AVLS to LIMIT:

–the MEGA BASS effect is reduced.

–turn down the volume if the bass- boosted sound becomes distorted or unstable.

Abra el portacassette la tapa del compartimiento de las pilas, e inserte dos pilas R6 (tamaño AA) teniendo en cuenta su polaridad.

1 Conecte los auriculares con casco/auriculares a 2.

1 Ponga FUNCTION en FM o AM.

2 Gire TUNING para sintonizar la emisora deseada.

Para desconectar la radio

Ponga FUNCTION en TAPE (RADIO OFF).

Para mejorar la recepción de la radio (consulte la Fig. D-b)

Para FM, extienda el cable de los auriculares con casco/auriculares o ajuste FM SENS o FM MODE. Para AM, oriente la propia unidad.

Nota

•Si la recepción es ruidosa cuando haya insertado un cassette con casco o etiqueta de metal, extraiga dicho cassette.

Utilización de otras funciones (consulte laFig. E)Para limitar automáticamente el volumen máximo

Ponga AVLS (sistema limitador automático de volumen) en LIMIT. El volumen máximo se mantendrá bajo para proteger sus oídos sin, incluso aunque aumente el volumen. Para cancelar la función del AVLS, ponga AVLS en NORM.

Para acentuar el sonido

Ponga el interruptor MEGA BASS en ON para producir sonido profundo y potente.

Nota

•Cuando ponga AVLS en LIMIT:

–el efecto de MEGA BASS se reducirá.

–reduzca el volumen si el sonido con graves reforzados se distorsiona o se oye de forma inestable.
