Listening to the radio

Presetting radio stations
You can store radio stations into the unit’s memory. You can preset up to 16 radio stations for FM and 8 stations for AM.
To tune in to and store stations automatically (Auto Memory Scanning function)
1 | Press RADIO ON/OFF. |
2 | Press BAND repeatedly to select FM or AM. |
3 | Press ENTER until “A” appears in the display. |
To cancel the stored station
Follow the procedure above and in step 3, instead of tuning in to a station, press and hold TUNING+/– until “- - -
To play the preset radio stations
Press BAND to select the band, and then tune in to a station using PRESETReceiving stations

The frequency range differs depending on the area (see the chart “Area indication and frequency range”). If you listen to the radio in an area of different frequency range, change the area indication.
Playing a tape
1 Open the cassette holder and insert a cassette. Then close the cassette holder and lock the buckle.

To limit the maximum volume automatically
Press MENU repeatedly to set the cursor to AVLS in the display. Then press SET to show “”. The maximum volume is kept down to protect your ears, even if you turn the volume up. To cancel the AVLS function, press SET so that “
” disappears.

Tips
•To switch the playback side, press œ.
•To emphasize deep bass sound, press MENU repeatedly to set the cursor to MEGA BASS in the display. Then, press SET to show “ON”.
To cancel the MEGA BASS function, press SET so that “ON” disappears.

To turn off the radio
Press RADIO ON/OFF.
To tune the station quickly
Hold down TUNING +/– in step 3. The frequency digits change quickly. When you release the button, scanning begins and automatically stops when it receives a station.
Tip
While listening to the radio, you can switch to the tape by pressing ( (play), 0or ).
Note
If the broadcast becomes noisy when a cassette with a metallic shell or label is inserted, remove the cassette.
To store stations manually (Manual Memory function)

•If you cannot complete step 3 or 4 while the indications are flashing, repeat from step 2.
•If a station is already stored, the new station replaces the old one.
4Press BAND repeatedly to select the following area “Eur”, “JPn” or “USA” and press ENTER.
5Tune in to and store stations as necessary following the procedure of the “Listening to the radio” and “Presetting radio stations”.
Note
If you change the frequency range, all the preset stations will be canceled.
