Tensioning the Saw Chain

Retensioning during cutting work:

:Shut off the engine

:Wear work gloves to protect your hands

Versions with depth limiter installed

(Special Accessories)

:Loosen star knob (1)

:If necessary, slide depth limiter (2) back against engine

:Go to "All other versions."

All other versions

:Loosen the nuts

:Hold the bar nose up and use screwdriver to turn tensioning screw

(1) clockwise until chain fits snugly against the underside of the bar.

:While still holding the bar nose up, tighten down the nuts firmly with supplied wrench or similar tool.

:Go to "Checking Chain Tension."

A new chain has to be retensioned more often than one that has been in use for some time.

:Check chain tension frequently – see "Operating Instructions."
