Troubleshooting

Nothing happens when
you follow the operating
instructions.
No power to the scanner.
Scanner is not programmed for
the correct host.
Scanner is not programmed for
the correct bar code type.
Interface/power cables are
loose.
Bar code symbol is unreadable.
Check the system power. Ensure the
power supply is connected if your
configuration requires a power supply.
Be sure the scanner is programmed for the
terminal in use.
Be sure the scanner is programmed to read
the type of bar code you are scanning.
Check for loose cable connections.
Check the symbol to make sure it is not
defaced. Try scanning test symbols of the
same bar code type.
Symbol is decoded, but
not transmitted to the
host terminal.
Scanner is not programmed for
the correct host type.
Be sure the proper host type is selected.

Scanned data is
incorrectly displayed on
the terminal.
Scanner is programmed to
work with the wrong keyboard
type.
RS-232 host setup is wrong.
Scanner is programmed to
work with the wrong host
type.
Scanner is programmed with
the wrong editing options.
For a keyboard wedge configuration,
ensure the system is programmed for the
correct keyboard type, and the CAPS
LOCK key is off.
Ensure the scanner’s communication
paraneters match the host terminal’s
settings.
Be sure the proper host is selected.
Be sure editing options (e.g., UPC-E to
UPC-A Conversion) are properly
programmed.
