Designedfor a wide variety of sound reinforcement applications, the Tannoy Di5 isa high
performance,ultra compact surface mount weather resistant loudspeaker. Afull bandwidth
loudspeakerdesigned for commercial, professional and residential applications where
environmentdurability and high quality sonic performance are required. Indoor or outdoor,
thesespeakers are ideally suited to stereo or monaural background or foreground music
systemsin such applications as diverse as theme parks, retail premises, restaurants and
cafés,corporate audio visual, residential developments and houses of worship.
Equippedwith Tannoy’s unique and exclusive point source ICT™ 110mm(4.50") drive unit,
theDi5 delivers an acoustic performance of outstanding clarity, definition and detail.
Thepoint source configuration of the Tannoy ICT™ driver’s mid-bass and tweeter sections
ensuresa wide and controlled dispersion for optimum coverage; this while avoiding the
massiveloss of energy in the vertical plane, at the crossover frequency, inherent in
two-waydiscrete designs. The ICT™ (Inductive Coupling Technology)drive unit also
addressesthe two most common component failures experienced in background music
andsound reinforcement systems, the tweeter and the crossover reliability. Theuse of a
wirelesselectromagnetic tweeter means that no crossover is required in the design; this
thereforeensures that an ICT™ unit is exceptionally reliable and therefore ideal for
applicationswhere constant heavy usage is the norm. This aluminium high frequency
domehas a deep drawn skirt that sits on the inside of the low frequency voice coil in the
samemagnetic gap. The skirt is like a single shorted turn that is induced with high
frequencyinformation generated by the low frequency voice coil, which is fed a full
bandwidthsignal. The mineral loaded polypropylene cone material and nitrile rubber
surroundfurther enhance durability and long-term reliability.
Availablein textured black or white painted finish with matching rubber trims, the
outstandinglydurable and scuff resistant, high impact polystyrene (HIPS) Di enclosure is
weatherresistant,rated IP64 to EN60529 (IEC529); a construction fully optimised for
consistentperformance in adverse conditions indoors or out.
Modificationis possible by application of alternative colour trims. Two standard colour trim
optionsare available from stock; enabling black or white product to be supplied factory
pre-fittedwith either red or blue trims.
Othertrim colours can also be created to suit specific requirements, but only as a special
ordercustomisation subject to minimum order quantities. Primarily aimed at corporate
brandingapplications, this aesthetic flexibility will also enable colour coordination for
largerinstalls.
Transformerversion - the Di5t
TheDi5t model option is equipped with an internally mounted low insertion loss line
transformerfor 70V or 100V distributed sound applications. Wattage taps are easily
configurableto the following settings via an easily accessible rotary tapping switch, which
istop panel mounted under the rubber trim.
70V:30W / 15W / 7.5W / 3.75W / OFF & Low Impedance operation
