Emissivity

This infrared thermometer is set at a default emissivity of 0.95, which appears on screen as “95E” between the F/C and Clock Setting modes. Emissivity refers to the relative power of a particular surface to emit heat by radiation. The default emissivity setting of 0.95 is appropriate for general household use. Food service and industrial users may wish to use a different emissivity setting.

Changes to emissivity should only be carried out by

experienced personnel. This infrared thermometer has an emissivity range of 0.5 (5E) to 1.0 (100E). To change the emissivity, Press “Read”, then press “MODE” six times until 95E appears on the screen. Press the “Read” button until the screen shows the desired emissivity. Press “MODE” to select. To reset to the 0.95 default emissivity, follow the preceeding directions and select 95E as the emissivity setting.
