1One Gigabyte (1GB) means 109 = 1,000,000,000 bytes and One Terabyte (1TB) means 1012 = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes using powers of 10. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1 GB = 230 = 1,073,741,824 bytes, and therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage capacity will also be less if the computer includes one or more pre-installed operating systems, pre-installed software applications, or media content. Actual formatted capacity may vary.

2While most systems provide sufficient power over the USB port for the Toshiba Portable External Hard Drive, a few manufacturers and some older systems limit this power. If you find that your Toshiba Portable External Hard Drive does not spin up, you may require a USB “Y” cable. This cable combines the power from two USB ports to provide ample power to your drive. Please contact Toshiba SDD Technical Support for information on obtaining a “Y” cable.

3Examples of the number of photos, songs, movies, and any other files that can be stored on a hard drive are provided for illustrative purposes only. Your results will vary based on file size and format, settings, features, operating system, software and other factors.
