Technology & Benefits

VHS Recordings from the DVD player:

Provided the selected DVD disc has not been encoded with the MacrovisionTM copy protection scheme, you can record DVDs to VHS without color distortion. Make cus- tom collections and "best of" tapes without the need for excessive wiring.

DVD Terms and Technology

ColorStream Pro® Component Video Outputs

These outputs allow the highest quality video signal to be sent from the DVD player to a component video equipped progressive scan TV. When this connection is utilized with today's HD-compatible sets, typical NTSC artifacts—like video noise, dot crawl, and flicker—are virtually eliminated, resulting in a low-noise, highly detailed picture with unequaled color purity.

Digital Cinema Progressive (3/2 Pulldown)

Delivers the smoothest, most film-like images to any progressive scan television, such as an HD-compatible one, and ensures maximum resolution.

JPEG Viewer

The Toshiba JPEG Viewer enables a user to display digital photographs, created on a personal computer in the JPEG digital format, on any television. An intuitive on- screen display assists in the creation of customized slideshows with a few simple clicks of the DVD player's remote control.

MP3 & WMA Audio Playback

Expands the players' functionality to include playback of custom music collections encoded via MP3 or Windows Media Audio (WMA) digital audio format onto CD-R or CD-RW media.

Dialogue Enhancer (E.A.M.)

Designated on the player as EAM. Three modes are included. NORMAL, 3-D (virtual surround sound) and DIALOGUE, which enhances center channel (dialogue) frequen- cies during playback of Dolby Digital encoded discs via analogue audio outputs.

BENEFIT: Great for 'late night' listening when volumes are low but dialogue intelligibility is of concern.

Bookmarks

Players with this feature let users virtually mark favorite locations/scenes on discs inside the player. The bookmark feature provides quick access to those scenes the user wants to view again or demonstrate to a friend. Select players offer up to nine bookmarks for greater accessibility.

VCR Terms and Technology

4 Head/19-Micron Head System

Offers superior slow motion effects over conventional 2 head designs. Toshiba's 19- Micron Heads match precisely the width of the LP and EP azimuths and read only the signal recorded on each azimuth (not adjoining tracks). The benefit is significantly enhanced SLP and EP performance so good, it rivals the quality of tapes recorded in the SP Mode.

S-VHS Quasi Playback

This features will allow tapes that were recorded in a Super VHS deck to be played back in the Toshiba deck without a significant reduction in quality.

VHS HiFi Stereo

Delivers the highest quality stereo sound from tapes recorded with a high fidelity soundtrack. Can be used in conjunction with a surround sound receiver to create signature Dolby Surround or Dolby ProLogic® Surround sound in the home theater environment.

Commercial Skip

After a program has been recorded, pressing the SKIP button once during playback will automatically advance the tape 30-seconds forward bypassing recorded commer- cials. Pressing the skip button on the remote again will advance the recorded tape for another 30-seconds for a total of 60-seconds.

Auto Clock Set

This feature ensures that your VCR never blinks "12:00" again. A special data stream in your local broadcast source (where available) automatically sets the clock display and keeps it accurate - even when time changes to daylight savings and back.
