Using the LCD Display

Setting the Timing Mode

Setting the timing mode is important for maximizing the quality of the screen image and minimizing eye strain. The timing mode consists of the resolution (example 1366 x 768) and refresh rate (or vertical frequency; example 60 Hz). After setting the timing mode, use the OSD (On-screen Display) controls to adjust the screen image.

For the best picture quality set your LCD display timing mode to:

VESA 1366 x 768 @ 60Hz.

To set the Timing Mode:

1.Set the resolution: Right-click on the Windows desktop > Properties > Settings > set the resolution.

2.Set the refresh rate: See your graphic card's user guide for instructions.

WARNING: Do not set the graphics card in your computer to exceed the maximum refresh rate of 75Hz; doing so may result in permanent damage to your LCD display.

VA1931WM specifications

The ViewSonic VA1931WM is a well-rounded 19-inch wide monitor that caters to both casual and professional users. Designed to optimize productivity and enhance viewing experiences, this model incorporates a variety of features and technologies that set it apart in the crowded monitor market.

One of the standout characteristics of the VA1931WM is its 1440 x 900 resolution, which provides sharp and vibrant images. While it may not compete with the ultra-high definitions of modern monitors, this resolution is sufficient for everyday tasks such as web browsing, document editing, and simple graphic tasks. The 16:10 aspect ratio is particularly useful for users who deal with content creation or consume multimedia, as it offers a bit more vertical space than the standard widescreen format.

The display utilizes a widescreen TFT LCD technology, ensuring that colors remain vibrant and lifelike while providing wide viewing angles. The monitor supports a 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, which enhances the clarity of images, delivering deeper blacks and brighter whites. Additionally, an 8 ms response time diminishes blurring effects in moving visuals, making it suitable for light gaming and video playback.

Connectivity options on the VA1931WM include both VGA and DVI inputs, offering versatility when connecting to a variety of devices, from PCs to laptops. This flexibility makes it easy for users to switch between different workstations without the need for multiple monitors.

In terms of ergonomics, the VA1931WM is equipped with a tiltable stand, allowing users to adjust the angle of the display for optimal viewing comfort. This is essential for reducing eye strain during extended use, a common concern for professionals working long hours in front of screens.

The monitor also incorporates ViewSonic's proprietary Eco mode, which allows users to adjust energy consumption settings, promoting sustainability without compromising performance. This feature is not only beneficial for the environment but also helps in reducing electricity bills.

Overall, the ViewSonic VA1931WM is a reliable option for those seeking a functional and affordable monitor. With commendable image quality, ergonomic design, and energy-efficient features, it is well-suited for a variety of users, from students to professionals. Its combination of durability, functionality, and value makes it a noteworthy addition to any workspace.
