S Correctly installed line will be the same length on both ends.
We recommend all service and adjustments not listed in this manual be performed by an Authorized Service Dealer.
CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENTS
Your carburetor is equipped with limiter caps.
NOTE: Do not clean filter in gasoline or oth- er flammable solvent to avoid creating a fire hazard or producing harmful evaporative emissions.
SWash the filter in soap and water. S Allow filter to dry.
S Add 10
NOTE: FILTER MUST BE OILED!
S Replace parts.
REPLACING THE LINE
For unit to operate properly, the cutting line should be replaced when line becomes worn to less than 3 inches in length from the edge of the line exit tunnels on each side of the cutting head.
WARNING: Only replace cutting line with engine switch in the OFF position.
S Remove and discard worn line before installing new line.
SUse only .115” diameter Poulan/Weed Eat-
erR brand cut length line.
SInsert one end of the line through the posi-
tioning tunnel.
S Continue to feed line through tunnel until line is centered (leaving equal amounts on each side). See illustration below.

SInsert ends of line one at a time through the line exit tunnels.
SPull the line and make sure the line is ex- tended fully through the tunnels.

Carburetor adjustments is a complicated task. We recommend that you take your unit to an Authorized Service Dealer. Damage will occur if you turn the needles beyond the limit- er stops.
IGNITION TIMING
The ignition timing is fixed,
SPARK PLUG
Replace the spark plug yearly using a Cham- pion
Engine will not start.

S Engine flooded.
S Spark plug not firing.
S Fuel not reaching carburetor.
S Carburetor requires adjustment. Engine will not idle properly.

Engine will not accelerate, lacks power, or dies under a load.
SAir filter dirty.
SSpark plug fouled.
SCarburetor requires adjustment. Engine smokes excessively.
SAir filter dirty.
SToo much oil mixed with gasoline. S Carburetor requires adjustment. S Wrong type of oil being used.
Line breaks while cutting.
SLine improperly routed in head. S Line size incorrect.
S Cutting line old.
