BEFORE USING DRIP COFFEEMAKER

Before using, cycle a carafe of cold water through coffeemaker to remove any impurities that could affect flavor. Follow guidelines for brewing coffee, except do not add coffee to basket. After cycle, turn OFF and unplug cord from electrical outlet. Wash carafe and basket in hot soapy water, rinse and dry. Wipe outside of base with a damp cloth and dry. Your coffeemaker is now ready to use.

CAUTION: To prevent personal injury or electric shock, do not immerse coffeemaker base, its cord or plug in water or other liquid.

BREWING COFFEE

(On/Off Switch Models)

1.Use coffeemaker on dry, level, heat-resistant surface, away from any edge.

2.Place a paper filter in basket. A paper filter must be used when brewing coffee. (If coffeemaker has permanent filter, push into bottom of basket to lock in place. Use of paper filter is optional with permanent filter, but use will aid in removal of grounds.)

CAUTION: To prevent personal injury or property damage due to overflow of basket, always use a paper filter when brewing coffee and clean basket, drain hole in bottom of the basket and pause ’n serve before each use.

CAUTION: If basket overflows, to prevent personal injury or property damage, unplug coffeemaker and allow to cool before removing basket.

Add one level tablespoon of automatic drip or all-purpose coffee to basket for each cup being made. (When making less than 4 cups of coffee, and add an extra tablespoon of coffee for better flavor.) Level grounds. Attach basket to coffeemaker, making sure it is secured in place. Amount of coffee may be adjusted to suit personal taste preference.

SPECIAL NOTE ON GRINDING COFFEE BEANS

If grinding whole coffee beans, grind to medium coarseness for best results. DO NOT grind too fine (powder-like) as this can cause the basket to flood.

3.Fill carafe with COLD water to desired cup level on carafe. Do not make less than 2 or more than the maximum (10 or 12) cups of coffee at one time. Open reservoir cover, pour water inside; close cover. Place covered carafe on keep warm plate.

CAUTION: To prevent personal injury or property damage, always keep cover on carafe while brewing; cover opens pause and serve lever on bottom of basket allowing coffee to flow into carafe. If cover is not used, basket will flood.

4.Plug cord into 120 volt AC electrical outlet ONLY. Turn switch ON. Red painted area of switch will be visible or signal light will glow when on, depending on model.

5.Allow coffeemaker to complete brewing cycle before serving.

6.Coffee stays hot as long as coffeemaker remains ON. Turn coffeemaker OFF and unplug cord from outlet after coffee is served.

7.If brewing another carafe of coffee immediately, allow coffeemaker to cool 2 minutes. Discard grounds and rinse basket and carafe. Repeat steps 1-6 for brewing coffee. Remember to use COLD water to reset thermostat.
