Chapter 12

Logs

This chapter contains information about using the log screen to view the results of the rules you have configured.

12.1 Log Screen

When you configure a new rule you also have the option to log events that match, don’t match (or both) this rule (see Figure 10-4). Click on the Logs to bring up the next screen. Firewall logs may also be viewed in SMT Menu 21.3 (see section 8.3) or via syslog (SMT Menu 24.3.2 - System Maintenance - UNIX Syslog). Syslog is an industry standard protocol used for capturing log information for devices on a network. 128 entries are available numbered from 0 to 127. Once they are all used, the log wraps around and the old logs are lost.
