Porter-Cable BSV750 instruction manual Obtaining Electricity from the Generator, Extension Cords

OBTAINING ELECTRICITY FROM THE GENERATOR

There are basically 2 ways to obtain electricity from a generator:

1.Use of extension cords directly from the generator to the appliance, lights, tools, etc.

2.Use of a double-throw transfer switch installed directly to the main electrical supply outside of house.

EXTENSION CORDS

When using an appliance or tool at a considerable distance from the generator, a 3-wire extension cord that has a 3-blade grounding plug and a 3-slot receptacle that accepts the tool's plug MUST be used in order to reduce the risk of electrical shock. A cord of adequate size must be used. Using the following chart to determine the minimum wire size required.

*NOTE: When amperage exceeds 20 amp; a 12 gauge extension cord should not be used for long distances.

An extension cord that is hot to the touch is overloaded.

Repair or replace damaged extension cords immediately.

DOUBLE THROW TRANSFER SWITCH

Potential hazards exist when a portable electric generator is connected to the main electrical supply coming into the house.

It is at that point that the electrical generator could feed back into the utility company's system causing possible electrocution of workers who are repairing the electrical lines.

To avoid back feeding of electricity into utility systems, a double-throw transfer switch must be installed between the generator and utility power. The Double- Throw Transfer Switch should be installed by a licensed electrician and in com- pliance with all state and local electrical codes. (When installing a Double-

Throw Transfer Switch, a minimum of 10 gauge wiring must be used.)

The electrician should also install a sub-panel to isolate the circuits you would want to use during an emergency or electrical power outage. Your generator will not be large enough to handle the load of all the lights, appliances, TV, etc. at one time. To select which items to run during the electrical power outage, see Wattage Calculation section in this manual.

BSV750 specifications

The Porter-Cable BSV750 is a versatile and powerful random orbit sander that caters to both professionals and DIY enthusiasts. Designed for maximum efficiency, this tool combines a host of features and technologies that enhance its performance, durability, and user-friendliness, making it a valuable addition to any workshop.

One of the standout characteristics of the BSV750 is its robust 3-amp motor. This motor delivers a variable speed range up to 12,000 orbits per minute, allowing users to control the sanding speed based on the specific task at hand. Whether smoothing rough surfaces, fine-tuning finishes, or stripping paint, the adjustable speed feature makes this sander adaptable to a wide array of sanding tasks.

The BSV750 also incorporates an innovative dust collection system. A built-in vacuum dust bag captures dust effectively, minimizing mess and improving visibility during sanding. This not only creates a cleaner workspace but also extends the life of the sandpaper by preventing premature clogging. For users who require more effective dust management, the sander can be connected to a shop vacuum for optimal performance.

Ergonomics play a crucial role in the design of the Porter-Cable BSV750. It features a comfortable rubberized grip that reduces vibration, fatigue, and overall user strain during extended use. The lightweight design further enhances maneuverability, making it easy to handle for both vertical and horizontal sanding tasks.

Another notable feature of the BSV750 is its easy-to-use hook-and-loop sandpaper attachment system. This allows for quick and efficient sandpaper changes without the need for tools, resulting in more time spent working and less time preparing. The sander's 5-inch sanding pad is compatible with a wide range of sandpaper grits, providing versatility for various applications.

Durability is a hallmark of the Porter-Cable brand, and the BSV750 is no exception. It is constructed from high-quality materials that withstand the rigors of regular use, ensuring it remains a reliable tool for years to come. Additionally, the sander's sealed motor and switch protect against dust and debris, further enhancing its longevity.

In summary, the Porter-Cable BSV750 is an exemplary random orbit sander that combines power, efficiency, and user-friendly features. With its variable speed control, effective dust collection, ergonomic design, and durable construction, it's well-equipped to tackle a variety of sanding projects, making it a smart choice for anyone looking to achieve professional-quality results.
