PLACEMENT

Since the installation of a subwoofer can be somewhat more complicated than installing full-range speakers, it is essential that you read this section very carefully prior to connecting the subwoofer to your system. Should you have questions relating to your installation, it is advisable

to call your dealer or visit www.infinitysystems.com for assistance.

The performance of the subwoofer is directly related to its placement in the listening room and how you align the subwoofer with its satellite speakers. Setting the volume of the subwoofer in relationship to the left and right speakers is also of critical importance because it is essential that the subwoofer integrate smoothly with the entire system. Setting the subwoofer’s volume level too high will result in an overpowering, boomy bass. Setting the volume level too low will negate the benefits of

the subwoofer.

Here are several additional facts on installation that may prove useful. It is generally believed by most audio authorities that low frequencies (below 125Hz) are nondirectional and, therefore, placement of a subwoofer within any listening room is not critical. While in theory it is true that the larger wavelengths of extremely low frequencies are basically nondirectional, the fact is that, when installing a subwoofer within the limited confines of a room, reflections, standing waves and absorptions generated within the room will strongly influence the performance of any subwoofer system. As a result, specific location of the subwoofer becomes important, and we strongly recommend that you experiment with placement before choosing a final location.

Placement will depend upon your room and the amount and quality of bass required (for example, whether or not your room permits placement of the subwoofer near either satellite). Be sure to leave a minimum of six inches between the wall and the port on the subwoofer.

Figure 1. This example shows the subwoofer positioned behind the right-channel satellite speaker to re-create the actual location of bass instruments in an orchestra and/or add impact to movie soundtracks.

PS210 specifications

The Infinity PS210 is a remarkable audio solution that stands out in the crowded market of passive loudspeakers. Engineered to offer exceptional sound quality, it incorporates a range of innovative features and technologies that cater to both audiophiles and casual listeners alike.

At the heart of the PS210 is its high-performance driver configuration. It features a sophisticated 10-inch woofer designed to deliver deep, impactful bass frequencies, ensuring that every beat and note is felt as much as it is heard. Accompanying this is a precision-engineered 1-inch tweeter that handles high frequencies with clarity and detail, allowing for a balanced and immersive listening experience. Together, these components create a rich soundstage that enhances all genres of music and spoken word.

The PS210 employs advanced crossover technology to ensure seamless integration between the woofer and tweeter. This ensures that the transition of sound between the different frequency ranges remains smooth, preventing any noticeable dips or peaks that could detract from the listening experience. The crossover is designed to minimize distortion, which is crucial for maintaining audio fidelity at high volume levels.

Durability and build quality are also key characteristics of the Infinity PS210. The cabinet is constructed from high-density MDF, which reduces resonance and prevents unwanted vibrations that can color the sound. This robust design not only contributes to better audio performance but also enhances the longevity of the product, making it a worthwhile investment for any sound system.

Versatility is another key feature of the PS210. It can be utilized in various applications, from home audio setups to professional environments like studios and event spaces. The speaker's impedance and sensitivity ratings make it compatible with a wide range of amplifiers, allowing users to customize their audio systems to their liking.

Finally, the Infinity PS210 features thoughtful aesthetics, designed to blend seamlessly into various environments while ensuring that it looks as good as it sounds. Its sleek profile and elegant finish provide a modern touch, appealing to both audio enthusiasts and design-conscious consumers.

In summary, the Infinity PS210 is a robust and feature-rich passive loudspeaker that combines cutting-edge technology with high-quality components. Whether for music listening, movie watching, or professional applications, the PS210 promises an auditory experience that captivates the senses and enriches the sound in any space.
