Have the unit repaired by your authorized service dealer.
DKeep the extension cord clear of operator and obstacles at all times. Do not expose cords to heat, oil, water, or sharp edges.
D Avoid any body contact with any grounded conductor, such as metal fences, or pipes, to avoid the possibility of electric shock. Don’t handle plug or unit with wet hands.
DDo not use with damaged cord or plug. If powerhead is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to your autho- rized service dealer for repair.
D Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection should be provided on the circuit or outlet to be used for the powerhead. Re- ceptacles are available having built-in GFCI protection and may be used for this measure of safety.
DOUBLE INSULATION
CONSTRUCTION
Your powerhead should be double insulated to help protect against electric shock. Double insulation construction consists of two sepa- rate “layers” of electrical insulation instead of grounding. Tools and appliances built with a double insulation system are not intended to be grounded.Safety precautions must be ob- served when operating any electrical tool. The double insulation system only provides added protection against injury resulting from an internal electrical insulation failure.
WARNING: All repairs to an electric powerhead, including housing, switch, motor, etc., must be diagnosed and repaired by qual- ified service personnel. Replacement parts for a double insulated appliance must be iden- tical to the parts they replace. A double insu- lated appliance is marked with the words “double insulation” or “double insulated”. The symbol (squarewithin a square) may also be marked on the appliance. Failure to have the unit repaired by your authorized service dealer can cause the double insulation con- struction to become ineffective and result in serious injury.
BLOWER SAFETY
WARNING: Never put hands or other objects into blower housing to avoid serious injury from the rotating impeller.
WARNING: Inspect the area before using the unit. Remove all debris and hard objects such as rocks, glass, wire, etc., that can ricochet, be thrown, or otherwise cause injury or damage during operation.
S Inspect attachment before each use for worn, loose, missing, or damaged parts. Do not use until unit is in proper working order.
S Keep outside surfaces free from oil and fuel.
SNever start or run engine inside a closed room, building or other unventilated area. Breathing exhaust fumes can kill.
S Avoid dangerous environments. Do not use in unventilated areas or where explo- sive vapors or carbon monoxide build--up could be present.
S Do not set unit on any surface except a clean, hard area while engine is running. Debris such as gravel, sand, dust, grass, etc. could be picked up by the air intake and thrown out through discharge opening, damaging unit, property, or causing serious injury to bystanders or operator.
SDo not overreach or use from unstable sur- faces such as ladders, trees, steep slopes, rooftops, etc. Keep firm footing and balance
at all times.
S Never place objects inside the discharge opening; always direct the blowing debris away from people, animals, glass, and solid objects such as trees, automobiles, walls, etc. The force of air can cause rocks, dirt, or sticks to be thrown or to ricochet which can hurt people or animals, break glass, or cause other damage.
SCheck air intake opening frequently. Keep vents and discharge opening free of debris which can accumulate and restrict proper air flow.
SNever place any object in air intake opening as this could restrict proper air flow and cause damage to the unit.
SNever use for spreading chemicals, fertiliz-
ers, or other substances which may contain toxic materials.
STo avoid spreading fire, do not use near leaf or brush fires, fireplaces, barbecue pits,
ashtrays, etc.
SWear hearing protection.
SUse only in daylight or good artificial light. S Use only for jobs explained in this manual.
MAINTAIN YOUR UNIT PROPERLY
WARNING: Disconnect powerhead spark plug (or disconnect powerhead from power source) before performing mainte- nance.
D Have all maintenance other than the rec- ommended procedures described in the in- struction manual performed by your autho- rized service dealer.
DAlways see your authorized service dealer to replace a damaged impeller. Parts that are chipped, cracked, broken, or damaged in any other way can fly apart and cause seri-
ous injury. Have damaged parts replaced before using attachment.
DUse only recommended Poulan PRO! re- placement parts; use of any other parts
may void your warranty and cause damage to your unit.
DNever douse or squirt the attachment with water or any other liquid.
TRANSPORTING AND STORAGE
D Hand carry the unit with the engine stopped.
D Allow the powerhead and attachment to cool and secure the unit before storing or transporting in a vehicle.
