OPERATION

Operating this shear can propel objects into the air, causing immedi- ate eye damage. To protect yourself, always wear American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved safety glasses or goggles when oper- ating this equipment. To protect your hands, always wear leather hand pro- tection when operating this shear.

Adjustments

Your Model H2867 includes a set of three thickness shims: 0.005", 0.008" and 0.013". These shims are used to set the gap size between the side of the shear jaw and the moving cutter. Depending on the thickness of the material you intend to cut, one of the three thickness shims is used to set the desired gap. The following is a gen- eral guideline for correct adjustment:

Use the supplied Allen® wrench to adjust the gap of the cutting jaws as shown in Figure 1.

Test Run

Your Model H2867 has a slide style ON/OFF switch as shown in Figure 2. Before performing any cutting operations, turn the shear ON and listen for any unusual noises. If everything appears to be in working order, you are ready to begin cutting.
