Operation

When using the MCS 100 Satellite, MCS130 Surround or MCS 130 LCR speakers in a Dolby Digital or DTS home theater system, the receiver should be configured for “Small” speakers. When using the speakers in a Dolby Pro Logic® home theater system, make sure the receiver’s center channel mode is set to “Normal.”

Some Dolby Digital-equipped receivers/processors offer different setup options for each source or surround mode (e.g., CD- stereo, videotape, Dolby Digital, Pro Logic). In each case, follow your equipment’s instructions to ensure that the subwoofer output is turned on and that the speakers are set to “Small” in each mode.

If your receiver has adjustable crossover settings, we recommend the subwoofer crossover be set at 150Hz for the MCS 100 Satellite and 120 Hz for the MCS 130 Surround and LCR. Refer to the owner’s manual for you AV receiver for any additional recommendations on system operation.

Maintenance and Service

The speaker enclosures may be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove fingerprints or to wipe off dust. All wiring connections should be inspected, cleaned or reconnected at least once a year.

If a problem does occur, make sure that all connections are properly made, secure and clean. If a problem occurs in one loudspeaker reconnect that speaker to a different channel in the system. Should the problem persist in that speaker the problem is in the speaker. If the speaker sounds fi ne in the new position it indicates a more in-depth issue with the electron- ics in the system. In the event that your MCS series speaker ever needs service, contact your local Boston Acoustics dealer or visit www.bostona.com for a list of dealers in your area.

Boston Acoustics, a name synonymous with high-fidelity sound systems, has made a significant mark in the audio industry with its range of speakers tailored for home theater systems. Among its popular offerings are the MCS 130 LCR, MCS 100 Satellite, and MCS 130 Surround speakers, each designed to enhance the auditory experience with unique characteristics and advanced technologies.

The Boston Acoustics MCS 130 LCR speaker is a versatile component that excels in both left, center, and right channel applications. This speaker is engineered to deliver clear, dynamic sound, making it ideal for both music and movie playback. One of its defining features is the 5.25-inch polypropylene woofer, which provides robust bass response without overpowering the mids and highs. Complementing the woofer is a 1-inch soft dome tweeter that ensures smooth high-frequency response, creating a balanced sound stage. Additionally, the MCS 130 LCR incorporates a ported cabinet design, optimizing airflow and enhancing the overall bass performance.

The MCS 100 Satellite speaker is designed to work in conjunction with the MCS 130 LCR, providing an enveloping surround sound experience. Its compact design allows it to be easily placed in various environments, be it mounted on a wall or situated on a shelf. Equipped with a 4.5-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter, the MCS 100 delivers crisp and detailed sound, making it perfect for capturing the subtle nuances in both music and film audio tracks. The speaker’s frequency response ranges from 150 Hz to 20 kHz, ensuring that even the most delicate sounds are reproduced accurately.

Completing the series, the MCS 130 Surround speaker is engineered for a full surround sound experience. Like its counterparts, it features a 5.25-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter, but is designed to provide a wider dispersion of sound for an immersive theater-like experience. The surround speaker employs advanced technologies such as Boston Acoustics' proprietary equalization, allowing it to adapt to different room acoustics and deliver consistent performance. The sleek design of the MCS 130 Surround makes it an aesthetic addition to any home decor, while its performance capabilities enhance the overall sonic landscape.

In summary, the Boston Acoustics MCS series—featuring the MCS 130 LCR, MCS 100 Satellite, and MCS 130 Surround—offers a comprehensive audio solution for home theater enthusiasts. Each speaker is crafted with quality materials and advanced technologies, ensuring dynamic, detailed, and immersive sound reproduction, making them a worthy addition to any audio setup.
