Placement Options

The MCS 100 Satellite, MCS 130 Surround and MCS 130 LCR speakers are easily placed on a shelf or wall-mounted. The speakers are configured for shelf use when you fi rst unpack them. The MCS 130 LCR will have one foot installed that will keep it level when used in the vertical position. An extra foot and thumb screw is

provided with the MCS 130 LCR so it can be adapted for horizontal use as a center channel speaker. The illustration shows how to reposition the foot, and install the other.

There are 2 sets of holes on the feet of the MCS 130

Surround and LCR speakers. By using the upper of the two holes, the speakers will have a slight forward angle for use on a high shelf. The foot on the MCS 100 Satellite speaker has only one screw hole and so does not offer the forward tilt option.

The MCS 100 Satellite, MCS130 Surround and LCR speakers are designed to easily mount on the wall using the keyhole slot(s) on the back of the speaker. When mounting the speakers to the wall, use the supplied rubber bumpers. You must remove the attached foot to wall mount the speaker. Remove the thumbscrew from the back of the foot. It is slotted for easy removal with a screwdriver or a coin.

NOTE: Because there are so many different kinds of surfaces on which the speakers could be mounted. There is no one type of fastener that we could supply that would work in all the possible situations. So taking into account the surface the speaker is being mounted on, acquire the appropriate type of fasteners. If you’re not sure what type of fastener to use, take the speaker to a friendly hardware store, tell them about the wall you’re mounting the speaker on, and ask them to recommend an appropriate fastener. Keep in mind the weight of the speaker.

MCS 130 SURROUND, MCS 100 SATELLITE, MCS 130 LCR specifications

Boston Acoustics, a name synonymous with high-fidelity sound systems, has made a significant mark in the audio industry with its range of speakers tailored for home theater systems. Among its popular offerings are the MCS 130 LCR, MCS 100 Satellite, and MCS 130 Surround speakers, each designed to enhance the auditory experience with unique characteristics and advanced technologies.

The Boston Acoustics MCS 130 LCR speaker is a versatile component that excels in both left, center, and right channel applications. This speaker is engineered to deliver clear, dynamic sound, making it ideal for both music and movie playback. One of its defining features is the 5.25-inch polypropylene woofer, which provides robust bass response without overpowering the mids and highs. Complementing the woofer is a 1-inch soft dome tweeter that ensures smooth high-frequency response, creating a balanced sound stage. Additionally, the MCS 130 LCR incorporates a ported cabinet design, optimizing airflow and enhancing the overall bass performance.

The MCS 100 Satellite speaker is designed to work in conjunction with the MCS 130 LCR, providing an enveloping surround sound experience. Its compact design allows it to be easily placed in various environments, be it mounted on a wall or situated on a shelf. Equipped with a 4.5-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter, the MCS 100 delivers crisp and detailed sound, making it perfect for capturing the subtle nuances in both music and film audio tracks. The speaker’s frequency response ranges from 150 Hz to 20 kHz, ensuring that even the most delicate sounds are reproduced accurately.

Completing the series, the MCS 130 Surround speaker is engineered for a full surround sound experience. Like its counterparts, it features a 5.25-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter, but is designed to provide a wider dispersion of sound for an immersive theater-like experience. The surround speaker employs advanced technologies such as Boston Acoustics' proprietary equalization, allowing it to adapt to different room acoustics and deliver consistent performance. The sleek design of the MCS 130 Surround makes it an aesthetic addition to any home decor, while its performance capabilities enhance the overall sonic landscape.

In summary, the Boston Acoustics MCS series—featuring the MCS 130 LCR, MCS 100 Satellite, and MCS 130 Surround—offers a comprehensive audio solution for home theater enthusiasts. Each speaker is crafted with quality materials and advanced technologies, ensuring dynamic, detailed, and immersive sound reproduction, making them a worthy addition to any audio setup.
