INTELLIGENT POWER MANAGER

Remote power management protects your networking equipment from power current damage.

Key Features

Guards your equip- ment from overvoltage damage.

Offers local or remote control.

Provides enhanced Web-based device setup and control management.

Test and optionally power cycle a connected host using auto ping.

Send e-mail alerts of impending power shutdown to up to three designated recipients.

If you power on a large amount of file servers and networking

equipment all at once, chances are that the input AC current will be too much for the power transformer. Ideally, the equip- ment would power on at specified time intervals to reduce the power load at any given time.

The Intelligent Power Manager protects your equipment from damage caused by excess power voltages generated when powering on several loads at the same time. It powers on or off any or all loads in any sequence over a wide range of time intervals. A circuit breaker at the AC input provides overall protection. And the Power Manager features a power-on current limit that prevents the circuit breaker from tripping during power on. It continuously monitors input line

voltage, total load current, and line frequency.

Two models are available. The PS540A has eight NEMA 5-20R power outlet connectors and one 120-VAC IEC power input connec- tor. The PS545A has eight NEMA 5-20R power outlet connectors and two 120-VAC IEC power input connectors.

Total load capacity is 20 amps for the single-input model and 40 amps for the dual-input model.

Since the Power Manager

reduces the input current, it limits potential equipment damage caused by excess voltages generated when powering on several loads at the same time.

Operate and control the Power Manager either locally or remotely. Locally, a front-panel pushbutton switch and a backlit

LED status indicator let you select power-on or off sequences. Remotely, use a PC or other computing device accessed through the Intelligent Power Manager’s RS-232 or RS-485 console port. Its male or female RS-232 DB9 console port is on the manager’s front panel. Its RS-485 RJ-11 connector is on the manager’s back panel. The selected connector attaches to a laptop computer, desktop computer, or palm pilot.

The power manager also has a Web/Telnet option that’s accessed through its front-panel RJ-45 connector. Web features include device setup and control management. Telnet features include auto ping for testing, and power cycling, as well as e-mail alerts for power shutdown.
