You cannot use your notebook until you have accepted the License Agreement and entered your product key. If you stop the process your notebook will return to the beginning of the Windows 98 SE Welcome Process, even if you shut your LifeBook down and start it up again.

Wait for a few moments as Windows 98 SE prepares for you. Once it is ready, your desktop will appear, and you are ready to begin!

Windows 98 SE will briefly initialize a system device before displaying the Windows desktop for the first time.

You will find a Emergency Recovery CD-ROM packet in your accessories box. Please store the packet in a safe place in case there is a loss of data and it becomes necessary to re-install your operating system and/or application programs. (See Restoring Your Pre- installed Software from the Recovery CD-ROM on page 84.)

REGISTERING YOUR LIFEBOOK

What are the benefits of registering?

You will receive an identification label for your LifeBook, which, if your LifeBook is ever lost, may help in getting it returned to you. You also receive priority Personal Identification Number (PIN), technical support access and useful product mailings. Proof of purchase is not required if you register within 30 days of your purchase.

How do I register?

By modem, fax, mail, telephone, or on the web. With Windows 98 SE, it is a part of the Windows 98 SE Welcome process. If you do not register during the Welcome process you can double- click on the LifeBook Registration icon on your desktop and then follow the instructions.
