Step 3. Install SFPs

An SFP transceiver is required for each switch port that will be connected to a device, device loop, or another switch.

To install an SFP transceiver, insert the transceiver into the switch port and gently press until it snaps in place. The transceiver will fit only one way. If the transceiver does not install under gentle pressure, flip it over and try again.

Step 4. Apply Power to the Switch

Connect the external DC power supply to the back of the switch.

Attach the AC power cord to the external power supply and wall outlet or power strip. Verify that the Input Power LED is illuminated.

The switch runs its self tests and begins normal operation – this may take a few minutes. Verify that the Heartbeat LED is blinking (once per second) and the System Fault LED is NOT illuminated.

1400 specifications

The Q-Logic 1400 series is a robust and efficient solution designed to meet the demands of modern data centers. These products are tailored for high-performance computing environments and cater to the needs of enterprises looking to optimize their storage networking capabilities. With an emphasis on speed, reliability, and flexibility, the Q-Logic 1400 offers a host of features that enhance overall system performance.

One of the standout features of the Q-Logic 1400 series is its advanced support for Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). This technology allows for the convergence of storage and data networking on a single Ethernet platform, thereby reducing the complexity and cost of managing separate networks. This seamless integration is particularly beneficial in environments where efficiency and data transfer speeds are paramount.

Additionally, the Q-Logic 1400 series is equipped with multiple high-speed ports, providing up to 32 Gbps of throughput. This enables the system to handle large volumes of data efficiently, making it ideal for applications that require quick data access and transfer, such as virtualized environments and large-scale databases. The increased bandwidth minimizes latency, ensuring that data is processed quickly and efficiently.

Another notable characteristic of the Q-Logic 1400 is its comprehensive management capabilities. The series includes user-friendly management tools that allow administrators to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot the system with ease. These tools are designed to provide real-time insights into network performance, helping IT teams to maintain optimal operation and preemptively address potential issues.

Moreover, the design of the Q-Logic 1400 series emphasizes redundancy and fault tolerance. Features such as load balancing, network failover, and hot-swappable components ensure that the system remains reliable even in the event of hardware failures. This resilience is crucial for enterprises that require continuous availability and minimal downtime.

Scalability is another key aspect of the Q-Logic 1400’s design. It accommodates growing storage needs without significant overhaul or additional investment in infrastructure. With its modular architecture, organizations can easily expand their networking capabilities as their storage requirements evolve.

In conclusion, the Q-Logic 1400 series is an advanced solution for organizations seeking high-speed, reliable storage networking capabilities. With FCoE support, high throughput, robust management tools, and a resilient design, it stands out as a vital asset in any modern data center, addressing the challenges of today's data-driven landscape.
