TROUBLESHOOTING
Diagnosing Switch Indicators

Symptom | Action |
|
|
Power LED is Off | • Internal or redundant power supply has failed or |
| is disconnected. |
| • Check connections between the switch, the |
| power cord, the wall outlet, and the RPU if you |
| are using one. |
| • If the switch is installed in a rack, check the |
| connections to the |
| panel. |
| • Contact SMC Technical Support. |

Power LED is Flashing | • The switch is either downloading firmware or |
| running the |
| (POST). If this LED does not stop flashing, then |
| POST has failed, and you should contact SMC |
| Technical Support. |
|
|
Link LED is Off | • Verify that the switch and attached device are |
| powered on. |
| • Be sure the cable is plugged into both the switch |
| and corresponding device. |
| • Verify that the proper cable type is used and its |
| length does not exceed specified limits. |
| • Check the adapter on the attached device and |
| cable connections for possible defects. Replace |
| the defective adapter or cable if necessary. |
