ST936701FC, ST973401FC specifications

The Seagate ST973401FC and ST936701FC are reputable hard disk drives (HDDs) designed primarily for enterprise storage applications. Known for their reliability and performance, these drives are often employed in servers and RAID systems, making them an essential choice for businesses that require high data availability and performance.

The ST973401FC features a capacity of 73.4 GB, while the ST936701FC packs 36.7 GB. Despite their modest sizes by modern standards, these drives offer a blend of performance and reliability designed to meet the rigorous demands of enterprise environments. They utilize a 3.5-inch form factor, a standard in the industry, making it easy to integrate them into existing systems without the need for extensive modifications.

One of the standout features of both models is their 10,000 RPM spindle speed. This high rotational speed facilitates quicker data access times and improved overall performance, which is crucial when handling large volumes of data or when operating in high-transaction environments. Coupled with a 4.5 ms average seek time, the ST973401FC and ST936701FC are optimized for data-intensive tasks.

In terms of interface, both drives utilize a Fibre Channel connection, specifically the 2 Gb/s standard. This ensures high-speed data transfers while maintaining stability and reliability. Fibre Channel technology is favored in the enterprise sector for its low latency and ability to connect multiple devices in a high-speed network, making these drives ideal for storage area networks (SANs).

Seagate's innovative technologies also enhance the performance and reliability of these drives. They incorporate advanced error correction techniques that help mitigate the risk of data loss due to corruption. Additionally, the drives are designed with optimized power management, which contributes to a longer lifespan and reduced operational costs.

In summary, the Seagate ST973401FC and ST936701FC hard drives stand out for their enterprise-ready features, including high spindle speeds, robust data transfer capabilities, and advanced reliability technologies. They are a solid choice for businesses looking to enhance their data storage solutions while ensuring integrity and performance in demanding environments. Their design and engineering embody Seagate’s commitment to delivering reliable storage options for enterprise applications.
