For example, you can connect the FortiGate-500A using the following steps:

1Connect port 1 to the hub or switch connected to your internal network.

2Connect port 2 to the network segment connected to the external firewall or router.

3Optionally connect ports 3 and 4 to hubs or switches connected to your other networks (the example shows a connection to port 5).
