Chapter 4. Bluetooth Neighborhood
With the Asanté Bluetooth software running on your Windows computer, you can:
•Search for Bluetooth devices in the vicinity.
•Discover the services available on the device.
•View the status of the connection.
•View the properties of the service.
The screen images shown in this chapter reflect Windows XP. If you are using another version of Windows, your screens may be different.
SEARCHING FOR BLUETOOTH DEVICES
To locate
•Select Search for devices in range from the task panel (Windows XP)
•Open the Bluetooth menu and select Search for Devices.
One of the advantages of Bluetooth is the mobility the wireless connections allow. However, mobility means that devices may move in or out of connection range during the time between the automatic updates performed by the software. To be certain that the displayed list of devices in the neighborhood is current, or if automatic periodic inquiry is not enabled, force an update of the device list using the technique above.
Some devices within connection range may not show up in the list of devices found because:
