Special circuitry within the driver lets it work with any DTE that can be polled, regardless of the DTE’s RTS support, so you get total compatibility with your DTE hardware.

The RS-232/RS-485 Multipoint Line Driver can be jumpered for a user-selectable port timeout. After the last character

is sent from one of the ports and a specified period of time passes, the line driver disables any transmission from that port. This way, a single port won’t monopolize your network.
