Troubleshooting

Emotiva’s X-Ref 10 DSP Powered Subwoofers are carefully designed and manufactured from high-quality precision components to ensure years of trouble free operation.

The troubleshooting section describes some common problems and how to eliminate them. If this doesn’t solve your problem, please contact Emotiva Technical Support, where a real person will be glad to help you get up and running.

Please remember to power down your X-Ref 10 and all connected equipment before changing or disconnecting cables.

The following two procedures will address the vast majority of problems that you may encounter:

Check the power connections:

Verify that your X-Ref 10 is turned on (the Power switch is on the back) and plugged into an active AC outlet. If the X-Ref 10 is turned on, the Power LED on the back of the unit should be lit (red indicates Standby; green indicates Active) and the blue fluorescent display (on top of the X-Ref 10) should light if you briefly press the button in the center of the rotary encoder (the black circle next to the display).

If not, verify that the Power switch is set to On, that the power cord is firmly inserted into the back of the X-Ref 10 and an AC outlet, and that the AC outlet is alive. If so, then verify that the fuse in the X-Ref 10 is not blown.

Check the signal source:

Verify that your signal source is sending output to the X-Ref 10. Some devices don’t send output to one or more subwoofer outputs unless configured to do so. In addition, some home theater pre/processors only send output to the subwoofer when certain types of program material are playing and certain decoder options are chosen (for example, some don’t send output to the LFE output when playing stereo material).

If your X-Ref 10 appears to “work” with some content and not other, check the documentation that came with your source component.

If the rear panel indicator LED is red, this indicates that the X-Ref 10 is in Standby mode (and that no input is being received).

This floor-standing speaker embodies a perfect blend of advanced technology, premium materials, and meticulous engineering, making it an ideal choice for both music lovers and home theater enthusiasts.

One of the main features of the X-Ref 10 is its sophisticated 3-way design, which contributes to its impressive sound quality. This configuration includes a dedicated woofer, midrange driver, and high-frequency tweeter, each tasked with reproducing specific audio frequencies with precision. The 10-inch woofer delivers robust bass response, while the 4-inch midrange driver ensures clarity in the vocal and instrumental range. The 1-inch tweeter offers detailed highs, providing an expansive soundstage that captures every nuance of the audio.

Emotiva has employed advanced technologies in the X-Ref 10 to enhance its performance further. The use of a polypropylene cone for the woofer not only helps to minimize distortion but also improves overall responsiveness. The midrange and tweeter utilize a silk dome design, which allows for smoother frequency response and a more natural sound. Additionally, the speaker features a specially designed porting system that enhances low-frequency output while eliminating unwanted resonances.

The cabinet construction of the X-Ref 10 is another highlight. It is built from high-quality MDF for structural integrity and resonance control, ensuring that sound waves remain undistorted. The internal bracing is strategically placed to minimize vibration and enhance acoustic performance. Aesthetic appeal is also a priority, with a sleek and modern design available in elegant finishes that can complement any home décor.

Connectivity is simplified with the X-Ref 10, featuring robust binding posts that accept a variety of cable types and ensure a secure connection. The impedance is optimized for compatibility with a wide range of amplifiers, allowing for flexible system configurations.

With its excellent tonal balance, dynamic range, and attention to detail, the Emotiva X-Ref 10 is designed to provide an immersive listening experience. Whether used for critical music playback or as part of a surround sound setup, this speaker delivers audio performance that meets the high standards set by Emotiva.
