Replacing the Base Cover

CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on your computer).
CAUTION: Only a certified service technician should perform repairs on your computer. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell™ is not covered by your warranty.
CAUTION: To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery (see Removing the Battery) before working inside the computer.
Removing the Base Cover
1.Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.
2.Remove the battery (see Removing the Battery).
3.Turn the computer over and loosen the six captive screws on the base cover.
4.Lift the base cover off the computer.

Replacing the Base Cover
1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.
CAUTION: If the base cover is difficult to close, remove the cover and replace it. Forcing the cover to close may damage your computer.
2.Align the base cover tabs to the base.
3.Slide the base cover tabs under the base.
4.Tighten the six captive screws that secure the base cover to the computer.
5.Replace the battery (see Replacing the Battery) or connect the AC adapter to your computer and an electrical outlet.
6.Turn on the computer.
