Troubleshooting

Wakeup on LAN

If Wakeup on LAN does not function on a client computer system, perform the following checks:

Use either Dell™ OpenManage™ IT Assistant or system setup on the client system to verify that Wakeup on LAN is enabled. See your Dell system documentation for detailed information.

Ensure that the correct Network Interface Card (NIC) driver is installed. Updated drivers are available on the Dell support website at support.dell.com.

Perform the following steps:

1In Device Manager, double-click the NIC to open the NIC properties window.

2Click Configure.

3On the Advanced tab, set the Wake-upproperty to Magic Packet.

Remote Connection to WMI and Remote BIOS Update

If Common Information Model (CIM) information for a remote client computer system is not available to the management application, or if remote BIOS update, which uses Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM), fails, Access Denied and/or Win32:RPC server is unavailable error messages may be displayed. If you encounter these error messages, perform the following troubleshooting steps:

To verify that the client system is connected to the network, at the command prompt on the server, type:

ping <Host Name or IP Address> and press <Enter>.
