The Status Tab

The “Status” tab, shown in Figure 6-8, will display current information on the Access Point, its settings and performance.

Firmware Version. This displays the current version of the Access Point’s firmware. Firmware should only be upgraded if you experience problems with the Access Point and can be upgraded from the Help tab.

IP Address. This IP address is the unique address to your network.

Subnet Mask. The Access Point’s Subnet Mask (also known as a IP Mask), which is the same as your Ethernet network.

Gateway. This setting indicated the Network’s Gateway mask, only appli- cable when DHCP is enabled.

Send and Recv. The Send and Recv fields under the LAN’s status display the amount of packets sent and received. Some packet loss is normal in wireless networking.

SSID. The unique name shared among all points in your wireless network is displayed here.

Encryption Function. The encryption method you chose in the Setup Wizard or changed from the Setup Tab of this Web-based Utility is dis- played here.

Channel. The wireless channel shared by all wireless devices connected to this Access Point is displayed here.

Send and Recv. The Send and Recv fields under the Wireless’s status dis- play the amount of packets sent and received. Some packet loss is normal in wireless networking.
