Correct usage

This manual contains information which you must observe for your personal safety and to prevent material damage. The information is denoted by a warning triangle and is differentiated as follows, depending on the degree of danger:

Danger

indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury.

Warning

indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury.

Caution

used with the safety alert symbol indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury.

Caution

used without the safety alert symbol indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in property damage.

Notice

indicates a situation which, if not avoided, could give rise to an undesirable result or state.

Note

is an important piece of information about the product, the handling of the product or a particular part of the documentation to which attention is to be drawn.

Only qualified personnel are permitted to start up and operate the device. Quali- fied personnel for the purposes of the safety information in this manual are persons who hold the necessary authorization to install, ground and label devices, systems and circuits in accordance with the standards of safety engineering.

Warning

The device may only be used for the application cases specified in the catalog and the technical description and may only be used in combination with third-party equipment and components recommended or approved by Siemens.

Startup must not take place until it is established that the machine which is to ac- commodate this component is in conformity with the guideline 98/37 EC.

Appropriate transport, and appropriate storage, installation and assembly, as well as careful operation and maintenance, are required to ensure that the product op- erates perfectly and safely.
