Before Use

System Requirements

If your computer doesn’t meet the requirements listed below, the CRW2200UX drive may not be able to write at the maximum speed.

Computer

PC/AT-Compatible Computer

CPU: Pentium II-class or higher, 300 MHz or faster.

RAM: 64 MB or more

USB port (USB 2.0 compatible)

A spare PCI expansion slot or a CardBus slot for a USB interface card (if one hasn’t been installed yet).

CD-ROM drive

Notes

To install the device drivers, you need a CD-ROM drive other than the CRW2200UX drive.

The CRW2200UX drive cannot be used as a boot drive. Furthermore, the CRW2200UX drive cannot be used to set up the OS one more time.

USB 2.0 Interface Card (PCI or CardBus)

Your computer requires a USB port in order to connect the CRW2200UX drive. To fully utilize the performance of the CRW2200UX drive, a USB 2.0 compatible interface card and EHCI (Enhanced Host Controller Interface) compliant driver are also necessary.

If your computer has a USB port with USB 1.1 specifications, we recommend that you install a USB 2.0 compatible interface card.

Connecting the drive to a USB port with USB 1.1

When the CRW2200UX drive is connected to a USB 1.1-compliant port on your computer, it operates in accordance with USB 1.1 standard.

For reliable data writing, the Buffer Underrun Protection should be set to ON, and the writing speed should be set to 8X on the writing software.

Reading is 6X speed at the maximum.
