4.Each 10BASE-FL Module counts as one half of a repeater. The 802.3 specification limits the number of repeaters between any two network stations to 4. This restricts the number of serially-connected 10BASE-FL Modules to a maximum of 8.

Note: The Ethernet 4-repeater rule limits the number of repeaters between any two transceivers to 4. In general, this restricts most vendor configurations to a maximum of 4 concentrators connected in series.

5.Rule number 1 does not include AUI cables of up to 50 meters. Thus, the total network diameter between 10BASE-FL Ethernet nodes can be 3740 meters (4200 m - 560 m + 50 m + 50 m = 3740 m) through a single concentrator.
